National builder breaks ground on nearly 1,000 homes in North Manatee
A national homebuilder is moving forward with plans to build nearly 1,000 homes in North Manatee County.
Taylor Morrison, on March 31, celebrated the groundbreaking of Esplanade at Coasterra, a 960-home neighborhood within the master-planned community of Coasterra. Arizona-based Taylor Morrison took its plans for the development public in April 2024.
Esplanade is one of three Taylor Morrison neighborhoods within Coasterra, which is at Buckeye Road and Interstate 75. Taylor Morrison is also planning to build Cove and Palm neighborhoods within Coasterra, totaling 550 single-family homes. The master developer of Coasterra is Clearwater-based Cornerstone Land Co., and the community spans 1,555 acres and will include several amenities, such as a 200-acre park, 27-acre lake, resort pool, clubhouse and a fitness center.
Esplanade is a Taylor Morrison brand found in 30 communities across the U.S.
Homes in Esplanade at Coasterra will start in the $400,000s. The builder bills the Esplanade brand as a "resort lifestyle community." It is near BayCare Health System Inc.'s new $548 million hospital on Moccasin Wallow Road.
Taylor Morrison is no stranger to Manatee County. In addition to its neighborhoods under construction in Coasterra, the builder is also planning 1,300 homes in Parrish, in a community known as Firethorn. Those units will include 1,000 single-family homes and 300 townhouses, Taylor Morrison previously said. The builder paid $30 million for 547 acres of land for Firethorn in mid-February 2024.
Taylor Morrison also developed and built out Artisan Lakes, a master-planned residential community in Palmetto. That community is projected to sell out this year, driving demand for Firethorn and its Coasterra projects.
"We love northern Manatee County because of its convenient location to St. Pete, Sarasota and Tampa," Douglas Miller, Tampa division president for Taylor Morrison, said previously. "It took a while — we were somewhat pioneering when we developed Artisan Lakes."
