A waterfront estate in South Tampa, once home to late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, is on the market for $12 million.
Compass Florida announced the listing of 5002 S. Shore Crest Circle in Beach Park on Friday. The sellers, John and Tracy Bales, bought the home from George and Joan Steinbrenner in 2004 for $2.9 million.
Mike Hughes of Compass Florida is listing the home for sale. The home was built in 1975; the Steinbrenners paid $1.4 million for the property in 1986, records show.
When the Bales bought the property, it had been on the market for a year, according to the then-St. Petersburg Times. Steinbrenner sold the home to move to Palma Ceia.
The property spans 1.34 acres. The main house is 8,567 square feet; the guest house is 1,565 square feet. It went on the market in May and appears to have sold for its full list price.
Tracy Bales is president and owner of Bales Security. The home includes a security guard house, “ensuring peace of mind for its residents,” according to Compass.
The property also comes with a deeded boat dock with a lift for direct bay access.
“Known for its privacy and exclusivity, the estate is gated and walled, ensuring an oasis of tranquility and security in one of Tampa’s most sought-after neighborhoods,” Compass said in its marketing materials.
