Canadian homebuilder spends over $20M on sites throughout Tampa Bay
A Canadian homebuilder is expanding in the Tampa Bay region.
Mattamy Homes has closed on three sites across the region since Dec. 30, totaling $21.64 million. The acquisitions mark the homebuilder’s first communities in Tampa and St. Petersburg city limits.
The homebuilder closed on the property of Sun Bay Townes at West Pearl Avenue and South Manhattan Avenue on Jan. 5 for $7 million. The South Tampa property will be developed into 54, three-story townhomes.

The townhouses will offer three to four bedrooms, three to three-and-a-half bathrooms, a two-car garage and private outdoor space. Prices are expected to begin in the the mid $600,000s. Development will start immediately, with sales targeted for fall.
Mattamy closed on property that can accommodate 172 single-family homes in Lithia for $2 million, according to a deed filed in Hillsborough County. Homes are planned to range from 1,900 square feet to 3,700 square feet on 50-by-60-foot homesites.
The community, dubbed Skyhawk, is near U.S. 301 and Interstate 75. Home prices are expected to begin in the mid-$400,000s with development beginning in March.
It also closed on 53 townhome sites at the Amara Bay Residences & Marina development in St. Petersburg off Gandy Boulevard for $12.64 million.
The mixed-use waterfront community will include two coastal-style townhome designs with two stories of living space. The homes will range from 2,731 to 2,470 square feet with three to four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage. Pricing is expected to begin in the $700,000s.

Miami-based Key International will continue developing the 415 apartments, 150 boat slips, an 8,000-square-foot waterfront restaurant and several other amenities at 12000 Gandy Blvd.
Before these acquisitions, Mattamy had a notable presence in the Tampa Bay area with 13 communities from Wesley Chapel to Bradenton. The homebuilder ranks 12th on the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s largest homebuilders list.
