Longboat Key mansion sells for record-breaking $30.3 million

The estate at 845 Longboat Club Road on Longboat Key sold for $30.3 million, setting a residential sales record for the county.
The $30.3 million sale of a beachfront home on Longboat Key is the highest in Sarasota County history.
Serenissima, the Venetian-inspired beachfront home at 845 Longboat Club Road, spans over an acre with 145 feet of Gulf frontage. Its sale closed Thursday.
The home previously broke county records when it sold for $16.5 million five years ago.
Compass agent Rich Polese handled both the 2020 and 2025 transactions. In 2020, the mansion tied with another property as the most expensive sale in the county.
“It’s truly an honor to have represented Serenissima once again,” Polese said in a release. “This home has always been one of the most special properties on the Gulf Coast, and I’ve admired its craftsmanship and timeless beauty for years. To see it sell for $30.3 million in such a short time on the market is not only a milestone for Sarasota but a reflection of how strong an investment in the market is."
On the southern end of Longboat Key, the six-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom mansion features 19,300 square feet of living space. It includes a grand salon, chef’s kitchen, a 10-seat theater, a sunroom and expansive terraces overlooking the infinity pool and beach.
Venetian details include hand-painted murals, marble-clad halls and millwork. The three-story home was custom-built by Mike and Michele McKee, who wrapped up construction in 2005. The McKees paid $2.5 million for the land, which is about 1.2 acres on the Gulf Coast, in 1998.
The home is within the gates of The Longboat Key Club, so residents can access golf courses, tennis courts, a full-service marina, fine dining and more.
The sale is more than three times the price of Pinellas County’s most expensive residential sale recorded this year.
The home was initially listed for $35 million on June 5. The $30.3 million sale equates to $1,570 per square foot.
The deed for the sale has not yet been recorded in Sarasota County public records.
